Toby Shulruff (she/her) works to build the capacity of communities to understand and shape the technologies that are woven into the fabric of our lives. Toby earned a MS in Public Interest Technology from the School for the Future of Innovation in Society at Arizona State University, and is currently a PhD student in the Human and Social Dimensions of Science and Technology program. 

Toby’s research includes the role of Trust & Safety work as internal governance within technology companies, the privacy and safety of everyday and emerging technologies, and the role of Public Interest Technology in global futures. 

Toby works with civil society organizations, government agencies, and industry to address technology facilitated gender-based violence through design, policy, training, and collaboration.
