Concept Journey Map
Bike Valet
The bike valet is designed for attendees to promote sustainable travel to and from Tempe City Roots.
As a team we want to implement sustainability into your entire experience at Tempe City Roots. In Tempe, there are so many amazing companies like Bird, Bike Cellar, Tempe Bicycle Action Group, and Northshore Watersport Rentals that allow us to take these approaches and we would love to embrace those traveling options!
Our vision for this will partake in attendees riding their bikes to the designated areas and with that, volunteers will give those attendees exlusive enterance into the festival.
Recyclable Stage Design
The recyclable stage is designed to embody the principles of sustainability and recyclability through the selection of environmentally conscious materials.
During the festival, we want attendees to enjoy the experience while also understanding that each individual can create a positive environmental impact. The use of a recyclable stage design provides a distinctive look and educates attendees about how they can recycle everyday materials for themselves.
Attendees will still get the same experience as other popular festivals with the use of biodegradable confetti, drones, and lighting effects.
Harmony Hideaway
Harmony Hideaway is a dedicated area created for people that are feeling overwhelmed and need a quite space from the loud noises and crowds at the festival.
We understand that festivals can get stressful. We want to be able to accomodate with what people need in those times. Creating a relaxing area with lights, bean bags, food/water, sensory toys/games, and charging areas for your devices will get people fully back and ready to go.
With properly trained volunteers and supplying them with the "Ask me anything T-shirts", they will be able to help attendees with assisting them to the area either by guiding them to the area or even showing them where to go throught the TCR application.
Seed Flyers
Seed flyers can be used to promote the festival or to educate attendees during the festival
These seed flyers will be used to promote the festival beforehand. Attendees can plant flyers at home, which gives a positive reminder of the festival. The seeds will be a variety of variety Arizona plants. There can be demonstrations on how the flyers work at booths and opportunities to make your own.
Composting Booth
Volunteers will do composting demonstrations with select food scraps from the festival. Attendees will learn how to compost at home, why composting is beneficial, and what role worms play along with other related information.
Gardening Booth
Attendees will be able to make their own seed paper which brings them back to how they found out about the festival through seed flyers. They can also plant a native Arizona seed to take home with them. The volunteers will teach through gamification on pollinator-friendly garden design and there will be a native plant education exhibit.
Recycling Art Experience
Insight: Attendees will learn more by being able to participate in the process, support local artists to show the beauty of sustainability
Live demos of recycled art by a local artist. These can be displayed after the festival to promote future festivals. Smaller recycled stages used for artists
Sustainable Crafting booth
Attendees will be able to craft a recycled art piece to contribute to the festival monument. This increases engagement and participation, making it easier to educate about sustainability. They will also have the option to take a recycled craft home as a souvenir.
Recycled artworks for sale
Recycled merchandise/artwork will be for sale, created by local and native sustainable artisans. Attendees can be educated through the beauty of sustainability and creativity.
What is plastic?
This booth is where volunteers will educate attendees about plastic waste. The booth will be part of the scavenger hunt experience. The volunteers will explain the lifespan of plastic, and how plastic waste affects our environment with attendees encouraged to fill out the Global Footprint Network's Ecological Footprint Calculator to find out how many Earths would be needed to support their lifestyle if everyone in the world lived like them.
