Expression

The impulse of creating means with art.

This section focus on the Expression impulse. An expression is an act, process, or instance of representing in a medium In John Dewy's The School and Society, he mentions the expression impulse "The child is already intensely active, and the question of education is the question of taking hold of his activities... instead of scattering or being left to merely an impulsive expression. " (Dewey, 1938, p.36) In this unit, I focus on expression using an image, coding, and music to understand my area of interest. For "Disrupting the JPEG" I convert an image from jpeg to txt and back while mixing the codes around to create a glitch photo. "Creating Art with Code" was 10 lessons of creating art with coding block in Code.org. In "Digital Music Creation", I compose two instrumental tracks. One is a pop song, the other is audio of me making tea in the kitchen. For the Unit Project, I created a video game prototype to express my appreciation for gaming. The final project was to make a movie trailer of the four impulses and how do I apply them in life.
