In this Power Up titled Roles and Responsibilities of an IEP Team, we will learn about the individuals on an IEP team, their related roles, and IEP acronyms readily used. You will also have the opportunity to interview individuals that serve on an IEP team and reflect upon your discussion. By the end of this power-up and application activity, you will be able to identify the roles and responsibilities of individuals who serve on an IEP team.
Essential Questions:
Who is on an IEP team?
What are their responsibilities?
What are the acronyms used when collaborating with members on an IEP team?
Define who is on an IEP team and their related roles.

Interview 2 individuals who serve on an IEP team and reflect upon the questions and answers noted in the Power Up activity.
Application Activity (approximately 60-90 mins):
Interview 2 individuals that are a part of an IEP team, then answer the following questions for each interview:
What is their role? (e.g. special education teacher, parent, student, general education teacher, administrator)
What are 2 recommendations they have to ensure the IEP team readily communicates and collaborates?
What is one additional piece of advice they would give you as a special education teacher to promote effective planning, instruction, assessment, and collaboration?
What is one thing that surprised you, or something you better understand upon interviewing this individual?
