Most courses use Canvas to deliver content. It can be accessed through MyASU at http://my.asu.edu or the Canvas home page at https://myasucourses.asu.edu

If you experience issues with technology during an assignment, exam, or quiz please visit myasu.force.com/ and use the 24/7 Help Desk chat and phone support available for help with Canvas. If you are unable to resolve the issue before the final deadline of an assignment please contact your instructor via email. Request a case number from ASU support to document your issue and attempts to resolve.
Online courses requires a computer with Internet access and the following:
Web browsers (Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari)
Adobe Acrobat Reader (free)
Adobe Flash Player (free)
Webcam, microphone, headset/earbuds, and speaker
Microsoft Office or Google Drive (Microsoft 365 and Google Drive are free for all currently enrolled ASU students)
Reliable broadband internet connection (DSL or cable) to stream videos.
Note: A smartphone, iPad, Chromebook, etc. may not be sufficient for completing your work in ASU courses.
Courses may also require software including a word processor (Microsoft or Google Docs).
Office 365 For ASU Students—Office 365 is the latest version of Microsoft’s productivity suite, and includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneNote and more. It is available for offline and online use. Currently enrolled students can use this software for free.
To get your Microsoft Office 365, follow these simple steps:
1. Go to https://login.microsoftonline.com/ and enter the following information:
a. Username: Your ASU email address (i.e., ASURITE@asu.edu)
b. Password: Password you use to log into your My ASU account
c. Click "Sign in"
d. Sign in using your ASURITE@asu.edu and password on the login screen
2. Follow the instructions on the installation screen.
All ASU students also have access to Google Drive and its many features including Docs, Sheets, Slides, Draw and Sites. This free software is useful for collaborative projects, because you can share a document to others in a group and all work on the project in real time. There is no need to email edited drafts between group members. Each document type also has a chat feature where you can talk with your classmates, as well as a commenting feature to highlight sections of a project for further review by your peers.
You can access Google Drive through your My ASU Portal in the left hand navigation. The following tutorials will familiarize you with the google drive platform and it's various tools. Access tutorials and manuals for the following tools here.
Google Docs - Most similar to Microsoft word, for creating and editing word documents.
Google Sheets - Most similar to Microsoft Excel for creating spreadsheets
Google Slides - Most similar to Microsoft Powerpoint for creating presentations.
Google Sites - a free website builder that allows you to collaborate with others to create web based projects.
Google Draw - most similar to Microsoft paint. Good for drawing diagrams to insert into writing or report
