Clear any Registration Holds
Sign in to My ASU. to determine if you have any holds that will prevent you from registering for classes.
Examples of registration holds include missing transcripts, unpaid fees, academic advising requirements, and immunization requirements.
Clearing registration holds as quickly as possible avoids delays in registration which can impact your chances of getting the classes and schedule that are best for you.
For more information on a particular hold, select Help on My ASU and enter any questions.
Once you have cleared any registration holds, you are ready to register for classes.
Prioritize deficiency courses. Even if you may waive or test for the deficiency course, you should enroll to secure a seat until you know if you can clear your deficiency. Next, prioritize core/area courses and courses you are interested in.
The deficiency course you may have been assigned could be a prerequisite for another course you desire to take in your program. Please review class search to review pre requisite requirements to assure you can successfully register for the courses you need.
Prioritize required courses and/or area/concentration courses.
You might notice that some classes require additional approval or consent to add the class. If you run into an issue adding a course, please utilize this Override Request link to request permission and we’ll be happy to assist with your request. Best practice is to obtain faculty approval for overrides if possible.
Be mindful of anti-requisites/equivalent courses. When viewing a class in the Class Schedule, click to expand the course and view the "Enrollment Requirements" which will indicate if "credit is only allowed for one course or another."
Examples: CSE 511/512, CSE 551/450, IEE 520/CSE 572, IEE 505/IEE 506
The catalog is available on the ASU website: www.asu.edu/catalog
Continuous Enrollment is required every Fall/Spring semester for ALL STUDENTS.
