Plowing the fields

Potato production is one of the main income sources for many families in Bamyan. Farmers usually start preparing the land for potato cultivation once snow has cleared out.

Cultivating potatoes is very time consuming and requires a lot of human resources. (Bamyan, March 2021).

Salima the entrepreneur

Salima completed only primary school. She had no educational background in business and entrepreneurship, but she started her small business and created opportunities for other women.

Salima lost her business after the Taliban takeover, as did many other women who used to work with her. (Bazar-cha-Honar, Bamyan April 2021)
