Bamyan was home to two large standing 6th century Buddha statues - the Buddhas of Bamyan.
Salsal, the larger of the statues (left in the photo) stood approximately 180 feet tall, while Shahmama (right in the photo) stood approximately 125 feet tall - before they were both destroyed by the Taliban

The Bamyan landscape changes color depending on the season.
Spring brings beauties with the apple tree blossom. Summer is very green. Fall is the season of color, and winter is white and sometimes dry. (September, 2020)
