WRITING Overall Teacher Judgements (OTJs) | Term 4 | 2024

Who are we focusing on and why?

Writing is an area where we will need intensive and structured plans in place to support all students across the school. 

Particular focus will be on the Year 3 and Year 4 cohorts as they sit well below the 80% At and Above threshold. We will also be focusing on the Year 5, Year 6, Year 7, and Year 8 cohorts as they also sit below the 80% At and Above threshold.

Continued implementation of The Writer’s Toolbox (PLD Year 2) in Phase 2 and Phase 3.


Developing sound teacher practices in writing through the implementation and use of the WTB Matirx and Scope and Sequence to improve student writing outcomes.

Structured CRT time for observation of good teacher practice.

Targeted teaching in identified areas of need to ensure progress and achievement.

Participation in regular moderation of student writing within Phases.


More opportunities for teachers to share and discuss writing to form better judgements for assessment.

Accessing more tools to ensure more accurate marking and leveling of writing.
