Chapter 2

Dear Family,

"If you use our age-defying cream, you will look years younger!" "If you buy this product, you will have more energy!" Marketing strategies like these use logic and reasoning of consumers to persuade them to buy a product. We are inundated with logic, combined with behavioral psychology strategies like FOMO, to get us to spending money. After all, YOLO right? In this chapter we will learn various types of logic and reasoning skills (inductive, deductive, algebraic, etc.), and how they can be used to achieve specific results. Students will work with postulates and theorems to write proofs about geometric properties.

Note to Students: The fact that you will probably never have to write a proof as an adult is 100% true--at least in the Geometry proof way. However, you will have to write proposals that combine all of your research to convince a boss to join or fund a project. You will have to sift through mountains of contradictory information to determine the truth of news reports or to choose who to vote for in the first election after you are 18. We are training your mind to think critically, line up all of the evidence to make a logical argument, and come to a conclusion. Teach your mind how to think!!
