Immunization Requirements

The State of Alaska (4 AAC 06.055) requires all students who attend Alaska schools to be up-to-date on immunizations prior to entering school facilities. No shots, no school. The number of doses and type of vaccine required depends on your child’s age, grade, and prior vaccination history. Check with your healthcare provider for details. 

Required Immunizations

• Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (DTap/DT/Td/Tdap)

• Polio (IPV/OPV)

• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)

• Hepatitis A 

• Hepatitis B

• Varicella through 6th grade

• Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b) – under age 5yo only

Fall Flu Shot Clinic

Each fall ASD Healthcare Services offers a variety of free flu shot clinics during parent-teacher conferences. These clinics are located at several middle and high schools around the Anchorage bowl. Flu vaccine as well as a select number of required vaccines mandated by state law will be available. These clinics are open to the public. Look for information on dates/times in the October newsletter. 

Exemptions

• Child in Transition (30-day provision.)

• Medical (A physician's statement outlining the student's medical reason(s) for vaccine noncompliance is required.)

• Military (30-day provision.)

• Religious (notary submitted each school year)
