All math homework will go to the students effort grade. All assessments will be used for the Academic grade. Students in Math 4 will receive a grade for both effort (O-N Scale) and academics (A-F grade scale).
Math homework is due the day after it is sent home and is graded based on completion and effort. Every assignment is worth 10 points. 1 point will be deducted from the score for each day it is late, up to 5 points. If homework is turned in within the quarter it was assigned, it will receive a score of at least 5 points. Once a quarter has ended, I am unable to change grades even if homework is turned in.
Students homework may be returned to them with a "speeding ticket." If a student receives a speeding ticket that means the homework was either too messy, incomplete, or incorrect and they need to try again. The homework score will be posted once the assignment is returned to me.
Test corrections are available to all students on any test, but they are required for any student who scores less than a 70% on a test. Students will earn half credit on any question they correct. Missed test questions will have to be redone, with work shown and a short explanation as to what the mistake was the first time around (there is a form to help remember this!). Once test corrections have been completed, the students grade will be updated.
