Pages for All Ages Published: September 27, 2024 | Updated: September 30, 2024 Library The Rampart Library Innovation Center (LIC) hosted a book swap event on September 18, 2024. It was, "wildly successful," and we hope you will join us next time!

Global research has demonstrated a connection between reading for pleasure and increased literacy achievement. Because of this, Mrs. MacFarlane and the LIC staff are working to build a stronger reading culture at Rampart. The first issue we are addressing is accessibility. Do Rampart students, their families, and community members have easy access to reading materials that they enjoy in their homes? From this question arose Pages for All Ages. What is "Pages for All Ages" Book Swap Pages for All Ages is a book swap event that is open to Rampart families, feeder school families, and families that live in the neighborhood but may not attend an ASD20 school. At our September 2024 event, guests who were able brought books they no longer needed to donate while picking from the hundreds of donated books available in the RHS LIC to take home and enjoy. If guests did not have a book to donate, they were still invited to take books home! Games Guests played Book BINGO and Speed Dating with a Book for prizes. There was also a coloring station and a read-aloud station for our smaller guests. Book BINGO was the most popular game, and everyone had a fun time! Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) PPLD set up a table with a representative who shared information about what the public library has to offer its patrons. They also gave out library swag and more books to everyone who stopped by the table. Snacks Our guests enjoyed bottled water, cookies, and other snacks while they explored the donated books and had fun with the games.

Measuring Success The turnout was wonderful! About 25 people RSVP'd, and more than 40 people attended. Everyone enjoyed themselves and now have new books accessible in their homes. Guests came from: Rampart High School Mountain Ridge Middle School Academy Endeavor Elementary School The surrounding neighborhood Staff from other schools and the district offices Next Time If you missed it, don't worry! There will be another Pages for All Ages event in November, and we took feedback from our guests that will make this one even better. We will have different games, different food, and still tons of books to choose from. Look for this information in upcoming Rampart This Week Newsletters.
