Administration is a growing sector which cuts across the entire economy and offers wide-ranging employment opportunities. Moreover, administrative and IT skills have extensive application not only in employment but also in other walks of life.
This course is designed to help you to understand and take part in the business and information environment. You will gain skills in managing information, organising, planning, problem solving and decision making.
The skills that you develop in Administration and IT are useful in many career areas such as office work, economics, human resource management, management services and public services administration.
SQA offer Administration & IT at four levels: National 3, National 4, National 5 and Higher. The Faculty offer from National 4 to Higher level.
Pupils going into S4 will be recommended for either National 4 or 5 Administration & IT by their S3 Admin teacher - this recommendation is based on class work and assessments that are conducted throughout S3. Pupils in S4/5/6 who have not done Administration & IT before can gain entry by having a conversation with Mr McNiven.
Pupils will be able to progress to Higher Administration & IT after successfully passing the N5 course. Pupils in S6 may be able to "crash" this course, but they require to speak to Mr McNiven in the first instance.
