Why will I need a guidance teacher?
Why will I need a guidance teacher?
Your Guidance Teacher is the one teacher who will stay with you through your whole time at Mearns Academy. They teach you Personal and Social Education and they are the link between your subject teachers and home. They are the person who will help support you through any problems or queries when you are in school but also the person to support your choices and successes.

What is PSE?
In PSE we cover a variety of topics that relate to health and wellbeing, choices, personal safety and it is a place to discuss your journey not just through school but through your teenage years and beyond.
In S1 we will study:
Settling into Mearns Academy
Health and Hygiene and Substance Misuse
Friends and Relationships
Puberty
Reflection on S1 and looking forward to S2.
