A dedicated S1 PBL skills course at Mackie Academy
Our new S1 Explorers course is designed to support exposure, experience and practice of dedicated skills. A fun, hands-on and community involved programme that gives Mackie Academy pupils an early insight into skills using project based learning protocols.

The S1 Explorers have spent term 2 researching and better understanding the impact of social media to help answer their driving question.
Our Explorers looked at some case studies including:
The facts around social media and its use (including screen time use / cyber bullying)
Awareness or organisations that can support mental health
Awareness of organisations that can support online bullying
An understanding on how to positively use social media
This led to the creation of some public awareness posters that can be displayed across our school & wider community. Take a look at the pupil creations below:
