In this IDL, pupils learned about the issues and solutions around global food security and the impact this can have on local food supply.

The importance of local food sources was highlighted through looking at examples of the food and agriculture industry in Aberdeenshire. Pupils also worked on group projects to investigate sustainability issues about a specific food product and to understand about the Fair Trade food journey.

Pupils carried out research to raise awareness and communicate about the impact of food packaging, waste and production on the environment. This included an investigation into recycling.
