The North-east has long been the energy capital of Europe. As the focus on oil and gas shifts to energy transition, there remains a huge array of opportunities for the local workforce. Renewables, offshore wind, hydrogen, and carbon capture and storage will be key industries moving forward. More than 35,000 people are employed in the industry locally, with an expected increase of 4500 positions by 2025 for new positions.
