S2 Adventurers (YPI)

S2 Adventurers is a dedicated skills based course which builds on the skills developed through the S1 Explorers course. Skills are developed through the PBL project using YPI as the framework.

YPI is a journey to understand more about the third sector, research charities that exist to support issues in the community, with the pupils selecting a charity to support over term 3 where they will deliver a presentation on why their chosen charities and social issues in their community are worthy of being crowned a YPI winner at Mackie Academy.

This will allow pupils to continue to develop and reflect on their skills including: Respect, Adaptability, Kindness, Teamwork, Creativity and Communication.

S2 Electives

In S2 pupils at Mackie Academy have the option of choosing Electives. S2 Electives have been adapted to include Core PBL elements and utilise our Skills Wheel. The Skills Wheel is a tool for students to reflect on their learning, set goals and make connections across the school.
Examples of some S2  Electives which have previously ran are:
Blue Planet, Fashion & Textiles, Games Design, Mock Trial, School of Rock, Forensic Science, Scotland's Sinister Past and Screen Acting.

Information around S2 Electives comes out in January. For more information please see your US Time tutor or PSAT member. They can provide additional insights into the opportunity, expectations and support you with any questions you may have.
