Who can apply for the RA position?

Anyone that is an SAIC degree seeking student for at least 1 semester prior to applying. This includes first-year students who are currently in their first semester. 

What are the requirements of a complete application?

A complete application includes 5 essay questions, a creative submission, your current resume and 2 references. Note you will provide your references with a google form link that they will need to fill out. Residence Life will not reach out to your references directly. Learn more about the application here.

Who can be a reference for my application?

We highly recommend that one of your references is an SAIC community member. This can be your professor, a mentor, your supervisor for your on-campus job, or your student group advisor. 

The other reference can be anyone that has supervised you in a work or academic related setting (SAIC or Otherwise).

Can my mom, dad or friend be a reference for me?

No. The only exception is if you worked for your parents as an employee at a family business and they can comment on your abilities in a professional capacity. 

What if I don't have a resume prepared?

You can make an appointment with CAPX to assist with resume development and review. 

When does the RA application close?

All application materials, including the reference form must be completed by January 30th at 11:59pm. Your application is not complete without 2 references. 

Pro Tip: Ask your references early and check back in to ensure that they have filled out the form. 

How are RAs compensated for their work?

• 162 and Jones RAs will receive a single room, and Buckingham RAs will receive a private room in a 2-bedroom apartment with another RA. 

• $600 ARTICash & $1875 check per semester (pre-tax value, final amount varies based on your tax withholding status)

Go to the home page and click the "Apply Now" button (only available from November 12 to January 30). 

Can I be a Summer Staff member too?

Due to time conflict, you cannot be a Summer Staff and an Academic Year RA back to back. However, you can still apply for both and choose to decline one of the offers. 

When do the Summer Staff applications open?

The Summer Staff applications will open in March. More info to come in the Spring semester.
