Buckingham RAWhat made you want to become an RA?
"I think I have always been the type of person who wanted to help people, and I was looking for a way to be helpful here at SAIC. This job was a great opportunity for me to learn how to be a pillar in peoples SAIC community! Being able to answer questions, give recommendations and be a peer in one's living space is super special!" - Violetta

Buckingham RAAs a 2nd year RA, what advice would you give to a New RA about navigating the RA position and being a full time student?
"As a second year RA, the advice I would give to a new RA about navigating the position and being a full time student is it can be overwhelming when looking at the bigger picture but taking it one step at a time, one task at a time, makes it all manageable. Your dedication and loyalty to a calendar is beyond helpful in planning out your time efficiently. It’s also important to be realistic with yourself when taking on tasks and distributing your attention/ focus. Prioritize your school work over RA tasks if need be; you’re a part of a team and you’ll always have people who are willing to help you out." - Anisa

162 RAWhat is your favorite memory of RA training?
"I really enjoyed the SRA hang outs! It was a great way to decompress from training while getting to know my fellow RA’s and share fun stories from the job. Being a first year RA I was really scared to get to meet the experienced RA’s and these hang outs gave us an opportunity to become friends and have fun with my peers!" - Grant

Buckingham RAWhat is one program that you have hosted that you are proud of?
"For Mexican Independence Day this year (2025) I put together “A Rendition of El Jarabe Tapatio.” It was a performance of a traditional Mexican dance. The program lasted just about five minutes, but there was a lot of work and practice that went into it. We performed in the studio on the 17th floor of 162 so for a lot of the residents who were just working there it came in as a bit of a surprise. It was really fun and I would love to do it again!" - Dana
