What is your favorite memory of being an S/RA so far?

"My favorite memory of my time as a RA was during finals season when everyone is usually hyper stressed, one of my residents came to me and asked for a onesie but we ended up chatting for 3 hours about everything. Being an RA as given me the opportunity to connect with people I would have never met otherwise and I am so grateful to have been able to have that experience." - Summer

What made you want to become an RA?

"As a Freshman, dealing with moving to a new state and living with new roommates, my RA helped me navigate life at SAIC and challenges with my roommates and recommended the job to me so I could help students do the same." - Meghal

If you could give one piece of advice to a New RA Candidate what would it be?

(During the Interview Process) "It's good to speak and try to lead discussion but always make sure you are in conversation with others and making room for everyone else to talk." - Elaine 

If you had to pick one memory from your time as an RA to describe the position, which would you choose?

"A memory that stands out for me during my time as an RA has been when my co workers support my programs and we see each other around campus, it’s makes you feel like you belong!" - Elisiana

As a 2nd year RA, what advice would you give to a New RA about navigating the RA position and being a full time student?

"Give yourself grace when learning to understand your limits. Taking on less hours at work or a lighter course load to avoid burning out doesn’t make you a bad student or employee." - Taylor

What is your favorite memory of RA training?

"My favorite memory of RA training was getting to know everyone! The days were long and the training was exhausting, but it was always so rewarding to get together with everyone after training and go to get food or boba and hang out. The best part of being an RA is always the people." - Alex

What is one program that you have hosted that you are proud of?

"I hosted a Mexican Independence Day appreciation event that gave students with a Latin heritage or an appreciation for Mexican culture a space to enjoy food and be in community." - Gelman
