The RA Application is Now Open!
Your resume should reflect skills received from professional settings that you have worked in, including how you will apply these experiences as an RA.

In order to complete this portion of the application process, you will need to first select two people who will act as your references.
Once you have done so, you must email the reference link to your references. You must have your two references submit the reference form by January 30th by 11:59pm. An applicant without the two required references on file may not be considered to move forward in the selection process.
Pro Tip: Email the link to your references early and follow up with them to ensure they have submitted the reference before the deadline.

If your reference experiences any issues filling out the form, please have them contact The Staff Selection Team at ra-selection@saic.edu
We highly recommend that one of your references should be an SAIC community member. This can be your professor, your supervisor for your on-campus job, your student group advisor, etc.
Your second reference can be anyone that has supervised you in a work or academic related setting.
Note: Your references should be able to speak to your skills related to the position description. It is not advisable to have family members complete a reference form, except if you have worked for a family member and they are able to comment on your ability at a professional capacity.
Our RAs are students who are able to take time to reflect on themselves and their positions. You will be asked to answer a number of essay questions. We expect that you will answer these questions in 4-10 sentences.

You will be asked to submit a creative submission based off of a prompt. This is an opportunity to show off your personality and art practice.

RA’s act as a bridge: connecting people, experiences, and stages of life. You help link high school to college, home to Chicago, and school to a future career. You are both a guide and a connector, helping students find their footing while communicating between professional staff and residents, ensuring that voices are heard and communities can thrive. The biggest part of the RA role is building community through programming, intentional conversations, and providing resources.
Using your preferred medium (painting, drawing, fibers, writing, design, music, video, or other forms), create a piece of art that answers the following questions. What is community? How have you experienced community throughout your life? How have you built and invested in community since coming to SAIC?
We’re not looking for perfection, we’re looking for authenticity, imagination, and reflection.
Each submission should be documented and placed in a PDF format. The PDF should include a written artist statement describing the work.
November
12th - Applications Open
January
30th - Applications Close at 11:59pm
February
2nd - Applicants will receive email communication that includes instructions for next steps in the selection process.
13th - Mock Interview - 7pm 162 Solarium. Please fill out this form to RSVP. Candidates will meet with Assistant Director of Education and Training, Alex McLendon, and members of the Staff Selection RA team to go through mock interview scenario's.
Selection Weekend - February 21st-22nd
21st - Individual Interview Day - All individual interviews will be happening between the hours of 8am and 7pm on February 21st. There will be a section of the application where you can list your preference for a morning or afternoon interview.
If you are unavailable on February 21st to do your individual Interview you may not move forward in the hiring process. Please email Alex McLendon amclen@artic.edu immediately if you have a scheduling conflict, rare circumstances may be accepted.
22nd - Group Process Day - During Group Process candidates will be observed in a room with a group of 8-12 other candidates. Facilitators will lead groups of candidates through three different scenario's that candidates will work together to complete. Current academic year RA's and members of Residence Life Professional Staff will observe. Group Process is a mandatory part of the hiring process.

March
24th - Acceptance Letters Sent Out - All applicants will receive an outcome email from Residence Life.
31st - Acceptance Responses Due - Applicants who received an acceptance will need to turn in their responses no later that 12:00pm noon.
