Everyone needs to learn how to create a username and password!
Lots of websites require a username to do anything on their websites.
Passwords are private! Only share with parents and teachers!
Sometimes, websites allow logins from popular websites like Google and Facebook.
For those, you just need to allow access and use your Google/Facebook login.
Examples of usernames:
californiacat, redarmadillo, mistero2, flyersfan99, bluebutton1
tomdavies, hillarysouth, mistermatt, therealsarahk
Make a username easy to remember and type in.
Same with passwords, but make sure they aren't simple!
Usernames
A username is your online name. It/you can:
- include your name
- have numbers
- be your nickname or favorite anything
- be at least 8 characters long
- be your email address (or email without the @___ part)
- use different usernames for different websites
- have multiple usernames for the same website
Passwords
Passwords protect others from using your username.
Keep them private!
8+ characters long
Letters like a, b, c, z
Numbers like 1, 2, 3, 0
Symbols like ! ? # $
Have at least two passwords! One simple and one complex.
Simple = 8 characters with letters and numbers
examples: twocents00, happytimes9, coco8nut
Complex = 8+ characters with at least:
An uppercase letter
A lowercase letter
A symbol
A number
examples: Talk2me?, SouthPaw8!, Sc@redyC8t
