Google Meet is Google's tool for group video calls. During Distance Learning, Google Meet is the primary way ARPS educators will be "in class" with their students and attend meetings with colleagues, administrators and parents. It is also a potential tool to make video recordings for asynchronous or "on demand" learning.
You can find Google Meet in your "waffle". You can also add Google Meet as an app to your smart phone or tablet, or access it by copy and pasting the following URL into your search bar on any web browser: meet.google.com.
There are three primary ways to start or join a Google Meet:
Open the Google Meet in the app or a web browser (meet.google.com). Click "join or start a new meeting". Give your meeting a nickname or leave it blank and click continue. On the next screen click "join now" or use the dial in information to call.
From Google Calendar, add a new event and click on the blue "Add Google Meet video conferencing" button. Anyone with the invite will be able to join the meeting directly from Google Calendar.
From Gmail, go to the Meet tab on the left hand side of your screen and click "new meeting". You can copy and paste the information into an email or start the meeting right away.
You can join a Meet you've been invited to directly in your calendar or by clicking the meeting link URL sent to you in email, text, or posted in Google Classroom using the "Generate Meet Link" in the Classroom banner.
If you are joining a meeting using a Google Meet nickname, in the app or at meet.google.com select "join or start a meeting" and enter the nickname into the next screen before clicking continue.
This detailed tutorial covers how to create a Google Meet. If you are new to Google Meet or need some refreshers on how it works, we recommend watching this tutorial once without interruption and then again with Google Meet open in another tab, pausing as often as necessary to go through each step. You may even want to recruit some colleagues to practice on before you try it out with students.

To ensure that all Google Meet extensions work properly, make sure that you are logged into your arps.org account in both locations.

Google Meet offers a way to record live meetings so that participants can revisit them later. You can also start a Google Meet with just yourself and use it as a way to record your screen. This can be a great work around for anyone who isn't comfortable using other video recording tools yet!
