Students are expected to adhere to the following behaviors in the library:
Sign up online before entering the library for a study hall
Sign in and select a seat when you arrive
Wear your mask at all times over your nose and mouth
No food or drink
Observe social distancing of 6 feet or more
Wipe down your chair and table area before and after use
Remain in your assigned seat and do not move furniture
Wear headphones when Zooming or watching videos so as not to disturb others
Sign out if you need to leave before the end of the block
Students not meeting expectations will be asked to leave and may lose library privileges.
Not sure why we have these new policies? We hope these explanations will help.
Why do I need to … sign up in advance? Spots are limited! Just like stores, museums, and classrooms, the Media Center is operating at a reduced capacity to limit the possibility of COVID-19 transmission.
Why do I need to … sign in and sign out? For contract tracing purposes it is important to know where people are at what time in order to quickly inform them of potential exposure to COVID-19.
Why do I need to … wear my mask over my nose and mouth? Wearing a well-fitted, non-vented mask over your nose and mouth helps protect you and those around you by limiting the spread of respiratory droplets which may contain the coronavirus.
Why do I need to … stay six or more feet apart from others? Similarly, maintaining a social distance of at least six feet from those around you helps reduce the risk of transmitting the virus from one person to another.
Why do I need to … wipe down my seat/table? Sanitizing your study spot before and after use helps limit the possibility of COVID-19 transmission between you and the people working in the same study spot before or after you.
Why do I need to … remain in my seat? Remaining in one spot both limits the potential spread of COVID-19 (by limiting the number of people you come into close contact with) and makes contact tracing easier if any potential exposure is discovered.
Why do I need to … wear headphones for Zoom class or when watching videos? If you’re doing a Zoom class in the Media Center, you’re probably not the only one! Wearing headphones limits ambient noise and makes it easier for everyone to concentrate on their work without distraction.
Why do I need to … bring my own laptop/textbook/charger/supplies? The Media Center is not able to provide shared technology or textbooks, in accordance with district health policies. If getting materials for class is an issue for you, please speak with your teacher or a staff member.
Why do I need to … follow all these new rules that I didn’t have to follow before? The new semester has brought many changes to the way AHS is operating, including bringing more people into the building more often. The Media Center has adjusted its policies to ensure that it remains a safe and productive space for students. These policies may continue to evolve as the semester progresses.
Thank you for doing your part to protect yourself, your classmates, and your AHS community while you use the Media Center.
