Exciting news! We are kicking off our curbside library. Go online NOW to start reserving your items!
Through the AHS Curbside Library, students can request books online and pick them up from AHS on Wednesday mornings from 8:30-11:30am. We plan to add a browsing cart soon where students will be able choose from a curated selection of great books. To provide a one-stop shop experience, teachers may deliver other course materials through the curbside library as well.
Not sure what to request? Use our Visual Search to browse by genre or our Book Recommendation form to request personalized suggestions by email.
Requesting a book is easy. Watch this short video or follow these steps:
Go to our school library catalog. Click Log In and Sign in with Google. Use your school Gmail account.
Use the Basic Search to look up specific books by title, author, or subject, or use the Visual Search to browse by genre. If you’re not sure what you want, ask us for some Book Recommendations!
When you find the book you want, click Hold It and click Save.
You will receive email confirmation at your school email address when your book is available for pick up. Requests placed on Tuesday may not be available until the following week.
To pick up your book:
After you receive an email that your book is ready, you may pick it up the following Wednesday morning between 8:30-11:30am.
Enter the AHS parking lot from Mill Street and pull up to the “circle” by the courtyard.
Wear a mask and stay in your car. Library staff will also wear masks and sanitize hands when handling library books.
Text the number from your email confirmation and we will bring your books out. We can pass books through your window or place them in your trunk.
If you are feeling sick or in quarantine, contact us to cancel your appointment.
Checkouts are for 3 weeks. If you finish your book earlier please return it for the next person. You may renew your book online as long as nobody else is waiting for it.
You do not need an appointment to return library materials. There is a blue drop box outside the courtyard where you can return books at your convenience. Items will be quarantined for a minimum of 72 hours before being checked in and recirculated.
If you are feeling sick or in quarantine, please cancel.
If you no longer want your books, please let us know so we can make them available to the next person.
Items not picked up for one week will be returned to the shelves, unless you contact us to make other arrangements.
If you are unable to come to school during our service hours please reach out so we can try to help. We are also working on a process to deliver books to students who live in Boston.
Yes, we can arrange to drop off books to students learning in the building. If you would like to receive your book while you are already at AHS for classes, please respond to the email confirmation to make arrangements.
Email Ms. Kitsis at skitsis@arlington.k12.ma.us whenever you need help. I love to hear from students! Stay tuned for more ways to get book recommendations and other assistance from the library coming soon.
