Spellbinding News: The Dallin Spelling Bee
All Dallin students are invited to participate in the Dallin School Spelling Bee! It's a fantastic chance to test student vocabulary, sharpen spelling skills, and compete to become the Dallin Spelling Bee Champion! Details on the spelling bee will be forthcoming, but sign ups and spelling lists distribution are happening now.
Who's Invited: All Dallin students!
Sign-Up: To officially enter and receive a list of 450 words for the school bee, please sign up with Ms. M during library visits or email her at mmaldonado@arlington.k12.ma.us
Competition Date: Mark your calendars! The Dallin Spelling Bee will be held on January 2026.
Maybes Welcomed: You don't have to commit 100% to participating. You can sign up, take a list and study. If you decide to opt out of the formal competition you can let Ms. M. know at any time and she will remove you from the competition list.
Student Driven: We want this to be a joyful experience and ask that students take the lead on signing up, studying, and competing. It is ok for families to lend support as study buddies and cheerleaders.
Good luck, spellers!
Quarter 1 Library Newsletter!
Dear Dallin Families,
Welcome to the latest edition of The Library Dispatch, the Dallin School Library Quarterly Newsletter! We know your time is precious, so we'll be completely honest: this newsletter is packed with information and runs a tiny bit long. However, we promise the extra scroll is worth it! Inside, you’ll find a wider scope of what students have been learning in quarter 1 along with important library program information and reminders (please help children return books). Think of it as a behind-the-scenes peek into your child's learning journey. Happy reading!
Best wishes,
Mrs. Maldonado (Mrs. M)
Students in grades 4 and 5 kicked off the Dallin School Library MCBA Reading Challenge! Founded in 1975, The Massachusetts Children's Book Award Program encourages children in grades 4, 5, and 6 to read great books. The selection committee nominates 25 books each year and students across Massachusetts read and vote for their favorite.
This year, Dallin students who read 5 books will be able to vote to for their favorite book and students who read at least 15 books will be invited to a celebration event at the library.
Students can read, listen to audio book, or have their grown ups read with them or to them. Books can be found at the Dallin School Library, Sora, any public library or at your preferred book store.
MCBA Reading Trackers and book review sheets are available at our school library.
