391/491 Preceptorship in Mentoring
We offer a special preceptorship in mentoring course via the Organizational Leadership program, which is described in more detail here on this page. (This is generally for those who have minored for gotten a certificate in OL, as this content is well covered for students in our major.)
Course Goals
The goal of this preceptorship is for each preceptor to develop their own Mentoring Philosophy; there are many ways to think about mentoring and mentoring relationships exist in both formal and informal ways. This course was designed to help each preceptor examine the mentoring relationship with a more informed view and the goal is to ultimately change the way you think about mentoring.
Course Learning Objectives
At the end of this course those who fully participate will be able to:
Compare and contrast different ways to define mentoring (processes, behaviors, and people).
Describe the 4/5 stages of mentoring.
Analyze the three high quality mentoring relationship characteristics
Develop a mentoring philosophy informed by research and best practice
