For some specialties, teaching students can be used for CME hours toward certain accreditations. For example, the AAFP (American Academy of Family Physicians) membership allows teaching hours to be used as prescribed credits (under 'self-directed activities,' and then 'teaching'). We can provide you with a summary of hours on UA COM-P letterhead if/when needed. You can check with your own specialty board or accreditation(s) to see if teaching hours can be used as CME.
As a CCE Preceptor, you carry a faculty title. Your title is 'Clinical Instructor' at the UA COM-P.
The Arizona Medical Association proudly supports medical education. The ArMA is giving $1,000 grants to voluntary preceptors of medical students in Arizona. The funds are unrestricted, and applying is fast & easy, click HERE to learn more!
A UA COM-P faculty appointment provides access, both on and off-campus, to a wide variety of library resources. Access is provided via two sites:
Arizona Health Sciences Library site highlights key resources in the field under the heading Top Resources. HERE you will find two interfaces for searching Medline: PubMed and OvidSP.
UA Libraries Main Site has a cleaner interface for general searches.
You will be prompted to sign in using your UA NetID and password.
For questions about library resources and services, please contact the Arizona Health Sciences Libary at the Phoenix Biomedical Campus.
For issues with NetIDs and passwords, please contact UA Information Technology Services.
Qualified Tuition Reduction (QTR) is a benefit provided to full benefits-eligible employees or their qualifying dependents to receive reduced tuition at any of the three Arizona public Universities: the University of Arizona (including Global Campus), Arizona State University, and Northern Arizona University. If eligibility requirements are met, QTR applications are completed through UAccess. Click HERE for a step-by-step guide with screenshots on how to submit your QTR application. You will need your NetID and password to log in to UAccess (you will be given a NetID once you are granted UA Faculty Status).
*Keep in mind that QTR must be applied for each semester. If you change employers, it may impact your affiliate faculty status and ability to use QTR in the future*
