Project Dates will be posted here but Art projects will take us 4-5 in class work days to start and complete. Students should plan to try and be here every day but will be able to use Lyceum or morning tutoring to catch up should they get sick or have to miss school.
Project Absence Policy - Because 4-5 days is a long project time, sometimes absences are expected. Students may work through art history should they have 1 or more absences but must turn in the project by the end of our art history presentation.

The student must be able to create a still life artwork in graphite from observation of the still life in the art room. Our practice this month has prepared them for basic shape drawing of outlines/shading/accuracy in proportions and creating a composition that fills up the page.
The criteria are as follows:

Students are tasked with really being patient, working on a single project for approximately 4 work days (4 hours) and then turning it in with an attached rubric (written response questions).

The student must be able to create a still life artwork in graphite from observation of the still life in the art room. Our practice this month has prepared them for 1 and 2 point perspective. Checking angles and pencil measuring are a must.

The student must be able to create a large scale (full sheet of paper) drawing with 4 small scale drawings of origami. This will ensure we've learned to use planes in art and shade them using the following mark-making techniques....

The student must be able explore three dimensional sculpture in paper that covers 60% - 80% of the base paper. Students have full creative freedom in this and then student must be able to draw it (or a part of it).
Our emphasis will be using gradients to draw curved forms.

The student must be able to draw one of the fabric structures in the art room. We will explore the properties of fabric and what patterns we notice about folds or fold directions. We will continue using gradients to shade curved forms.

The student must be able to draw at least three detailed hands. We will be learning basic anatomy for drawing -- identifying important details to include and thinking about the hand as a complex form.
This is very challenging and even professional artists have typically drawn hundreds of hands at least to achieve mastery of these complex forms.
