Arden Geography GCSE REVISION Google Classroom - Code: j3rj2dg
New Grade 9-1 GCSE Geography AQA Complete Revision and Practice book by CGP books (ISBN 13: 9781782946137)
•We do not advise you to use revision guides as your main source of information as they are not always detailed enough. You primary revision tool should be your geography books.
•The use of practice questions is an essential part of your revision as it is easy to lose marks due to poor exam technique. You will be given plenty of opportunity to complete practice questions as part of your home learning. Throughout the course there will also be specific lessons that focus on command words; these will be highlighted in your books.
•Remember that you are not alone. A revision lesson once a fortnight – this will focus on past topics. For individual concerns, you can approach your geography teacher directly. A GCSE Revision Google Classroom has been set up (Code: x62rxh3). This will have practice questions, video links and information sheets for each of the topics studied. It will also have advice relating to exam technique.
•You should recognise that just reading through you book will not allow you to achieve your full potential. You should use different revision techniques such as summarising notes, producing glossaries, flashcards and mind maps.
•When revising case studies, don’t try to learn every statistic. However you must know enough to ensure your response is place specific.
•Diagrams are important in geography and exam papers regularly include questions that require you to draw / label / annotate. With this in mind you should practice producing clear informative diagrams as part of your revision.
•Subject-specific terms are also important in geography. It is a good idea to produce a glossary for each topic. Make sure definitions are clear, precise and accurate as they could earn you extra marks in an exam.
•An understanding of command words is essential. Revision booklets give you the chance to practise these; there are also glossaries of command words available on Google Classroom.
