•You are expected to work your hardest in every History lesson until you go on study leave. If this is not the case, you will be made to redo or add to your work. You need full and detailed notes with no gaps – otherwise how will you be able to revise?
•This is the same for homework. Nothing is set just for the sake of it, its carefully planned by your teacher.
•If you miss a lesson or feel like you need to go over a topic studied in class, all lesson resources can be found on the History Department Google Site. There will also be lots of useful activities and information to help with revision. You can always approach your teacher with any individual concerns or requests.
•Start your revision nice and early – i.e. NOW. There’s a lot to revise for History and it will be less stressful and more effective the earlier you start – ask anyone! This includes proper revision for class assessments.
•When revising, make sure that you are not just reading your notes. It will not stick in your head. Instead use lots of different revision techniques:
Make flashcards with Key Qs and answers
Draw up timelines showing key events
Complete past paper questions – the more the better
Write glossaries of key words for different topics
Create mind maps for big topics to pick out key points
Know the patterns and timings for the exam.
Just make sure that it’s personal – it must work for YOU
•Remember that you are not alone. If you have any concerns, you can approach your History teacher directly.
•Your History teacher will be more than happy to mark any extra exam questions that you do. These are important and they will make a difference to how well you do.
•Any resources we think will be helpful will be uploaded to the Google Classroom set up by your teacher, the Google Site or given to you in lessons. Just ask if there’s anything else you need.
