Welsh has always been a large part of my life and I have always strived towards
becoming a fluent speaker. Welsh A-Level has been an invaluable step towards
this and will continue to do so for a long time. Taking Welsh at Archbishop
McGrath has been an experience that I will never forget. The environment here is
one of complete understanding and warmth, meaning that our learning
environment is enriching and helps all of us attain our desired grades. The support
that we receive is of an outstanding level and is unparalleled when compared to any other sixth form in the area. Welsh not only has an impact on my academics but has an impact on my personal life. I am now able to hold a conversation with a fluent, first language speaker, which shows great improvement from two years ago. Throughout my two years of A-Level, Welsh at Archbishop McGrath has had an effect on my confidence that I would not have gained anywhere else. This is most definitely a result of the extraordinary and comprehensive teaching style of our teachers and has allowed me to grow as a person, as well as a scholar. Their teaching style includes relating trivial subjects, such as grammar, to situations that are relevant to us and as such, allows there to be a fun and interesting work environment.
There is no doubt that in the future, Welsh will be a large part of my working life. This is because every day, the number of employers who look for Welsh language as a skill grows. This allows bilingualists many more opportunities and advantages than those who are monolingual.
The experience of learning Welsh at Archbishop McGrath is one of care and when I leave, I will truly miss the department and the opportunity to speak Welsh daily, without judgement.
