I chose to study health, social and childcare at A-level because I thoroughly enjoyed understanding health, well-being and humanities modules. Having the possibility of planning a lesson from scratch and delivering it to pupils was one of the highlights of this course as its very beneficial for me and anyone who is planning to become a teacher or to expand organizational skills that every job needs to be successful. As well as these, you will learn different types of communications, individual’s rights to dignity, independence, choice and safety. I think the coursework units will prepare any student that is thinking to go to university as it gives the independent feeling. In studying health and social care, you will build a strong base of skills applicable in many fields, not only will it enhance your view of health, but it will provoke the thought process of applying skills to real-world problems, which in turn makes the knowledge you spent learning in GCSE seem useful, a statement often doubted by many GCSE health and social care students. When applying for universities, studying health and social care opens up a broad range of opportunities to you. For those who are hoping to study nursing, therapy or teaching as I mentioned earlier, health and social care is a massive boost to your application.
