My First Impressions About You

By Angel Rodriguez

“Our love was on the calendar

since your parents decided to kiss each other.

Until the night dawns.

You look like a 400-degree oven.

Even better than a frying pan with a big chicken drumstick.

If I am the dirty toaster, you will be the paper towel with the soap

because your smile bleaches my soul.

Don’t be surprised about my state of declaration.

I just want you to be the blender that turns my kitchen up and down.

Let’s microwave each other for the rest of our lives”

I think that,

when she hands me the empanadas that I ordered 15 minutes ago
