The Intimacy of Sharing Music

Take this piece of me,

this fraction of my brain—

a high school dance,

a lost first love,

Polaroids of a summer night.

My hands did not shape the notes,

my fingers did not touch the keys,

or strum the strings,

but take this art

as if it were my own.
