Dark Ink, Thin Page
By Ryan Hiemenz
Artwork by Caitlyn Rudolph
Sometimes I dig into the right hand pages just a bit too much.
Not enough to tear through onto the future’s surface,
But enough to leave imprints.
Fragments of thoughts form faint prophecies of hope like names
Written in sand waiting for the wave to wash the beach
Back to its original state.
These pages, one of many pandemic pick-me-ups
Passed between the two of us, travels wherever I go. A piece
Of you remains paperbound.
Even through holding onto what’s lost, the once blue texts
Going through green splash with a temporary resignation.
Not that I try it often.
