My Good friend, Three Racoons In a Trench Coat

By Dylan Germann

Artwork by Carly Maloney

I often think of a good friend:The most merry of men.

Three Racoons in a trench coat.

(racoon)

They wobble and wander in city streets,

Undeniably human, with a full beard of grey hair

And the shade of a hat which hides his snout.

(he is charlatan)

To gather his treasures from the pockets of many

(with sneaky paws)

And the trashcans of life.

They are grandly intoxicated with pleasures of life.

Banter and banqur both of top spec.

What a fine friend he is.

(of course he is)

Pulling shiny trinkets from deep pockets,

With grubby paws. To offer to friends.

(as friends should)

Perhaps he will order a glass of wheat juice

Maybe even bread with tomatoes.

(still by morning)

He will drunkenly wander into an alley,

(Though one would question if he was ever drunk.)

To dissipate into a trench coat and hat,

Left with the paw marks of three racoons.
