Celebration by the Seaside

We sacrificed our sacred hearts,

As the sunset left the sky.

And we danced along the great horizon,

As our steps grew more awry.

The blisters on our feet, they grew

While we pranced along the sand.

And that growing distance spread,

When I tried to grab your hand.

Our differences are showing;

I see a blackness in your heart.

But just lie to me once more, my dear,

As we slowly fall apart.

“Can we forget about what was?

Let us just see what we are.”

“I’m sorry, but we’re changing,

And I must love you from afar.”

The ocean tides are screaming,

As the sunset left the sky.

And I felt our distance growing,

As our steps became awry.
