We strongly advise that you do not book your return ticket until you know your exam schedule.
Australian universities generally do not permit resit exams once you return home, and opportunities to sit exams online are extremely limited - unless it has been clearly stated that your exam will be delivered as an online assessment.
Please check each of your subject course handbooks carefully to determine which subjects include exams and which do not.
Universities in Australia are not lenient when it comes to assessment policies. Staff in Australia or your university advisor may have limited capacity to assist you, as decisions regarding resit exams and special considerations are made by the university’s Special Consideration team or the relevant faculty.
We urge you to thoroughly review your academic requirements and make informed decisions accordingly.
The census date is the official deadline set by a university to finalize your enrolment for a semester or study period. It is the last day you can withdraw from a course or unit without incurring academic penalties.
Here’s what the census date typically means:
Withdraw before the census date:
– There will be no academic record of the course on your transcript.
Withdraw after the census date:
– It may appear on your transcript as ‘Withdrawn Fail’ (WF), ‘Absent Fail’ (AF), or similar, depending on university policy.
If you need to return home urgently before the census date, you may be eligible to defer your entire semester without any academic penalty appearing on your transcript.
However, if you leave after the census date, outcomes such as 'Withdraw Fail', 'Absent Fail', or 'Discontinued Unit of Study' may apply. These outcomes will depend on the specific policies and procedures of the Australian university.
