STUDENT DISCOUNTS & BUDGETING
Many restaurants and pubs, entertainment venues, visitor attractions and travel services offer student discounts, often termed ‘concessions’. It’s a good idea to always have a student ID on you and ask for any student discount that might be available. Other tips:
Have a clear idea of how much you are able to spend during your time in Australia and per week.
Plan your travel early so you know what you have left for day to day expenses. When planning trips, factor in travel to and from the airport and to your housing.
Minimise your food costs: buy in bulk and at large supermarkets, and share cooking with friends; go out for lunches instead of dinners; use the free grills at parks/ beaches; make your own coffee; shop at farmers markets; hunt around for bargains such as cheap sushi; weeknight pizza deals and drink specials at bars.
