Hello! Welcome to my art class website. I am excited to be your teacher this year. I have always been an art-maker, and in college I focused on painting, drawing, and printmaking. Some of my favorite subjects to draw are people and landscapes. When I'm not making art, I might be hiking, riding my bike camping, playing with my dogs, or keeping up with my son.
I hope you will love art-making as much as I do. My goal is for students to be able to experiment confidently, find their own creative voice, and improve their artistic skills through the course of the year.
Creating - students will create original works of art in a variety of media, addressing a variety of topics. Students will have work time in class devoted to creating artwork.
Presenting - students will share their work with the class during class sessions. Students will prepare a digital portfolio of their completed projects. Students will display their art on campus.
Responding - students will complete reading and writing assignments in which they respond to a variety of works of art. Students will use a grading rubric to self-reflect on their work in class.
Connecting - students will complete reading, writing, and journaling assignments in which they reflect on the connection between art, artists, themselves, and the wider world.
