TD was uniquely designed to give its leader the ability to move a group of people from one place to another in an orderly fashion. What makes traditional drill so difficult its the weight of responsibility placed on a single individual to control the movement of a platoon size group (ranging from 20-90 people) using just their presence and projection of voice to have their command acted upon.
Talent, skill, and hard work is what it takes to make it in the unarmed exhibition drill team. This highly choreographed, fact paced, and intertwining movements keeps each cadet on their toes and the audience on the edge of their seat. Cadets master each movement to perform it instinctively.
