A billet is usually considered a prestigious assignment and important in the leadership progression of cadets. Its purpose is to challenge cadets with increased responsibility, learn attention to detail, pride in self and their work, administrative efficacy, and problem solving.

Assists the commanding officer in their duty to exercise C2.
Senior enlisted leader responsible for bridging the gap between cadets and instructors.
Oversees the distribution, allocation, return, and inventory of JROTC equipment, gear, and clothing.
Responsible for the dissemination of JROTC related information to the school and public through social media and news outlets. Researches, plans, and evaluates opportunities for cadets to engage with the public.
Maintains count and control of drill and competition rifles, ensures serviceability, and record keeping is maintained.
