Common Sense Media is a HUGE resource with everything you could need. One of the main reasons I think Common Sense Media is my "Go to place" for Digital Citizenship information is because they have all the components put together. They have information and tips and tricks for Parents, including a large library of videos and books that have been reviewed. There are lessons that are designed to teach students about Digital Citizenship in one of 6 categories and also organized by grade level. They have a great article that shows the research behind their curriculum. I learned a lot about Digital Citizenship just reading this article, which is also broken up in these six categories. If you visit the Digital Citizenship Curriculum website there are a lot of great resources to use in the classroom including lesson plans and curriculum resources.
ISTE is a powerhouse of information for Educational Technology. ISTE stands for International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). If you go to their website you will find a community of global educators who believe in the power of technology for Education. ISTE provides a variety of Standards which have been created for students, educators, administrators, coaches and computer science teachers. The standards are the framework for every other resource they provide. ISTE has communities, conferences, blogs, articles and pathway courses to help a teacher be better at Educational Technology.
A large part of the work ISTE has done is the Digital Citizenship piece. .
The DQ Institute has amazing information about Digital Citizenship. Their website is dedicated to setting global standards and offering information to further the mission to spread Digital Citizenship information. They have an award-winning educational program with a goal to empower 1 billion children with digital intelligence education. I have gone to their website to look at their amazing digital frameworks. I am very much a visual person and I learn so much more from the framework charts they have. Here are a few examples from their page. The images are linked to the webpage.
As part of my ISTE certification I created this "Rethinking Digital Citizenship" Prezi presentation. It will give teachers, parents and students information about how Digital Citizenship has gone from a reactive approach to a more proactive approach, looking at the tie in to Restorative Justice practices.
