Students Share Examples of Media:
We will rotate the day students present by using the random name wheel (which will be assigned in class. Your name and date will be placed on a google doc that will be posted daily)
ALL EXAMPLES OF MEDIA NEED TO BE EMAILED TO stefanie.bur@aps.edu AT LEAST 24 HOURS BEFORE YOU PRESENTATION DATE SO I CAN CHECK THEM OVER TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE SCHOOL APPROPRIATE. IF YOU FORGET TO GET IT APPROVED, YOU WILL NEED TO PRESENT THE FOLLOWING DAY FOR -10 POINTS.
You will have 1 additional day to look up a form of media if you forget your example on your day (-10 points if it is late). If you are not ready after the additonal day, you will receive a 0%. However, if you have an EXCUSED absence on your day, just send me an email and I will reassign your day.
What counts as 'MEDIA':
Any channel of communication.
Ask yourself, "How do people get their messages across to someone else?"

a) Books (Maybe share your favorite quote or favorite part)
b) Newspaper Articles (Can be an actual newspaper or a link from the internet)
c) Billboards or Ads
d) Radio (Can find an online link for an entertaining DJ)
e) Clips from the News (Can record or find a link online)

g) Music with Powerful Lyrics
New Forms of Media
a) Internet articles
b) Websites
c) Short TV or Movie Clips
d) Clips of Podcasts
e) Email (Maybe take a screenshot of a conversation)
f) Social Media (May need to get link from your phone and email to yourself to be able to access for school)

Fridays-
Work on Monthly School Newspaper:
a) Everyone will get to choose a job they would like to work on for the School Newspaper (you can change jobs throughout the semester)
b) Newspapers will be distributed to Mr. Gutierrez the beginning of each new month

Parts of a Newspaper (pick the part you would enjoy working on the most):
Editor I will need to interview you to check out your editing skills for this job. In charge of finding any spelling, capitalization, or grammar mistakes. Also, this person sets the newspaper up with everyone's articles and gets it ready for publication. (Will have it really easy the first 2 weeks of each month)/ (Will Need 2-3 people)
Local News: eCADEMY Specific News. Will need to keep in touch with Mr. Guiterrez and Mrs. Ortiz to keep up-to-date with events and announcements/ (Will Need 1-2 people)
State/ World News : Do research to find out what is happening in the world?/ (Will Need 1-2 people)
Weather Updates: Natural Disasters and weather predictions (Will Need 1 person)
Government (What is happening with politics? Must be FACT BASED unless you are interviewing people on a specific political or governmental topic/ (Will Need 1-2 people)
Sports: School Sports, State Team Stats, Info about athletes / (Will Need 1-2 people)
Lifestyle: Special events happening in Abq., Personal reviews of establishments (would you recommend this place?), fun places to go in town (Will Need 1 person)
Showcase Section: Student examples of work or any other amazing things happening at school (for examples of work, students must send you an email you giving you permission to share their work OR their names must be removed)/ (Will Need 1-2 people)
Comic: Dragon in school comic (Will Need 1 person)
Technology Tips: Hopefully someone that knows some technology tips we could use to be successful in the classroom/ (Will Need 1 person)
Business: Latest news in technology, new businesses in town that have opened or closed, information about stocks that are doing well or really poorly, and economy (what new products have come out? What new item does everyone seem to have?) (Will Need 1 person)
Agriculture: Hunting, fishing, farming, and info about NM animals (Will Need 1 person)
Environment: Info. about pollution, natural resources, recycling/ energy-saving tips, info. on inventions created to save the earth (Will Need 1 person)
Health: News on medicine, Covid, global health. Also, can focus on mental health. Maybe mental health tips/ (Will Need 1 person)
Student Interviews: Pick a school topic (like how do you manage your stress in school? Or what do you look for in a teacher that really makes a difference?). Then, pick around 20 people to interview, and record their answers (they can choose to give their names and grade or remain anonymous)/ (Will Need 1-2 people)
Advice Column: Ask around 15 students or parents about any topic they would like advice on (as long as it is school appropriate. Ask me if you are not sure). Then, write their issue down and think of helpful tips (Interviewees can choose to give their names and grade or remain anonymous)/ (Will Need 1-2 people)
Advertisements for Our School: Create advertisements for our school that would promote our school so other people know our school is fun and it exists. You can also find businesses to sponsor if you know someone who is starting up a new business. Questions to think about: Name of school, why would they want to come here? What pictures can represent our school? School Address? and so on..../ (Will Need 1-2 people)
Jobs and Careers: There are so many jobs available out in the world. Some require a college degree, some are trade jobs like wood-flooring or stuccoing. And, some are jobs you may get as a teenager. What do you need to apply for this job? What kind of schooling or knowledge would you need? Why would someone enjoy this job? You could also research colleges for this section. Choose a 2-3 different jobs to learn about each month/ (Will Need 1-2 people)
Obituaries/ Tributes: Honor someone who has passed away (someone famous or someone from a classmate's life.... class suggestions can be accepted). You can also give a tribute to someone amazing explaining what they have contributed positively to society/ (Will Need 1 person)
