Use of AI tools in this course is strictly limited to preserve the integrity of experimental work and ensure that all submissions reflect your own understanding.
AI tools may not be used to generate or assist with any scientific or substantive content, including:
Data or error analysis
Responses to lab questions or reflections
Explanations of results
Conclusions
Entering lab prompts, questions, or data into AI systems is also prohibited. Submitting AI-generated or AI-assisted content as your own constitutes a violation of the Academic Integrity Code.
AI tools may be used only for editing of your own writing, such as:
Spell check and grammar correction
Minor rewording for clarity
You must write the original content independently before using any editing tools.
Violations will be handled under the Appalachian State Academic Integrity Code and may result in:
A zero on the whole or part of an assignment
An Academic Integrity report
Further sanctions, up to course failure
Summary: Any AI use that contributes to the content of your lab report constitutes unauthorized assistance and/or plagiarism. AI may only be used for minor editing of your own writing.
