Generation Genius

Generation Genius is an online source of Science Videos and Lessons that the district has purchased for Carrigan and Bailey Schools to use. It is accessible via Clever.

Generation Genius is very easy to use. Simply search a topic, click play and use the supplemental material that is right under the video, one click away. Some teachers only show the videos to supplement their curriculum and others use everything (lesson plans, reading material, quizzes, discussion questions, activities, vocabulary, teacher guides, exit tickets, etc.). It is most common for teachers to pick and choose the tools they need.

Giving students remote access to lessons in Generation Genius:

Under each video, there is an orange button that says "Generate Student Link." Click it and then send the resulting link to your students. It allows them to access that lesson in 1-click from anywhere without needing to signup, create an account, etc.

Using Generation Genius videos with Spanish language speakers:

100% of our videos have subtitles in Spanish. Simply click the "CC" button on the video player bar and select Spanish. Currently all written materials are in English.

Answer Key for Quizzes:

Yes, it is available to subscribers on the manage account page as a PDF. We provide it to free trial users by request. The answer key currently includes answers to all K-5 paper quizzes. The 6-8 answers will be added to the answer key PDF once the 6-8 lessons are finished (~end of Sep).

Order of Videos and Lessons:

The videos are self-contained and do not rely on the information presented in other videos, so there is no specified order. Typically the curriculum you use sets the order/pace and teachers supplement their units with GG lessons. The beginning of the GG videos often include a background review of the topic, such as when learning about the causes of seasons, the video will first review Earth's orbit and rotation.

All material can be downloaded at once if desired. This is available to subscribers on the manage account page (click on the gear icon, top right corner)

Classroom vs School Account

A classroom account is for access on 1 device at a time, such as a computer, tablet or phone. That is ideal for one teacher who can use it in front of the class. It also includes ability to send out student links that can be accessed by up to 35 students. Students clicking the student link do not need to login and do not need an account. A school account gives all teachers and all students access on an unlimited number of devices.
