This year, we received more than 230 submissions across our K-12 schools for the 2021 KIPP NJ | Miami Writing Contest. In the submissions, we saw examples of creative stories and poems, analytical essays, and even powerful personal statements for students applying to college. We were impressed by the range and quality of our students’ writing and are excited to announce the winners of the 2021 KIPP Writing Contest!
In each grade band (ES, MS, HS) we selected one winner, two finalists, and in some cases also an honorable mention. Winners were selected based on the power of message, as well as the presentation of author’s craft in their writing. We’re thrilled for you all to explore these students’ pieces below. Prizes for the winners will be sent out this week in the mail to their home addresses.
We will also be mailing a certificate and recognition letter to every student who submitted this year, along with a copy of the piece they submitted. We want to make sure their families can celebrate their accomplishments in writing, too!
Scroll down to meet the winners, finalists, and read their work!
