A challenge I faced was Covid-19. I learned three things during this pandemic.
Those three things are that I need to spend more time with my brother, why black
people were protesting, and that things in life are not always easy.
First, spending time with my little brother is important. My little brother’s name is
River Collins. Before the pandemic I would go to restaurants, birthday parties, and
carnivals with my friends. I never realize the time with my brother is just as fun until
Covid-19 closed the world. I was in the house bored with nothing to do. Then my little
brother would always ask me to play with him, but I didn’t want to. One day I decided to
play one of his games with him and begin to enjoy it. Each day we found something new
to do that was just as fun as the carnivals. Now River and I are always with one another
doing fun things together.
Next, I learned what a protest was and why black people were protesting. During
reading class, my teacher showed us a few pictures of adults and children all around
the world gathered with signs, walking, and wearing black lives matters clothing. She
asked us to think about what these images means to us. Instantly, I thought about these
things I saw on television. I saw that white officers were killing black people just
because of their skin. A white officer shot through Breonna Taylor’s home who is a
black girl killing her. Also, George Floyd got killed because a white officer stood on his
neck while he was screaming “I can’t breathe.” While we shared our feelings, I learned
that the people in the pictures my teacher shown were protesting for black people rights.
I was very sad to see what was going on in the world. I am a black person, and I am
scared.
Lastly, I learned that life is not always easy. For example, I always must wear a
mask. I must stay six feet away from people I can’t go certain places, so its not fun. I
can only go to school, which is different then before, the store, playground, and post
office. My life has not been easy during covid 2020-2021.
To conclude, Covid 19 is a struggle. I can’t go places. We must socially distance.
Black people are getting killed. I hope the world can survive the pandemic.
